Reiki is a gentle Japanese energy healing practice that supports the body’s natural ability to restore balance.
The word Reiki comes from Japan and was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 1900s. It translates loosely to “universal life energy.”
Imagine your energy like a river.
When a river flows freely and strongly, it naturally carries away debris. It stays clear and alive.
But when water slows, stagnates, or becomes blocked, debris builds up. The flow weakens. The river becomes heavy and murky.
Our bodies and nervous systems work in a similar way.
Stress, trauma, exhaustion, illness, and emotional overwhelm can slow the flow of energy. When that flow is restricted, we may feel:
Reiki gently encourages the river to flow again.
It doesn’t force.
It doesn’t push.
It simply supports movement.
As energy begins to move more freely, the body can release what it no longer needs, like debris being carried downstream.
Reiki works by creating a calm, supportive space where your body and mind can fully relax. During a session, the practitioner uses light hand placements on or just above the body while you rest comfortably. This gentle approach encourages your nervous system to slow down, helping you move out of stress and into a more settled state.
When the body is deeply relaxed, many people notice a sense of ease, clarity, or emotional lightness. Reiki doesn’t require you to do anything, there’s no pressure to feel a certain way or have a particular experience. It simply offers time and space to pause, breathe and reconnect with yourself.
Each person’s experience is different, but they often describe feeling:
Reiki can assist with:
Clients often describe Reiki as comforting, peaceful, warming and deeply nurturing, like a reset for the mind, body and spirit.
Your session begins with a gentle check-in to understand how you’re feeling and what you’re hoping to receive. You’ll then lie comfortably, fully clothed, on a treatment bed while soft music and a calm, soothing atmosphere help you relax.
During the session, your practitioner will lightly place their hands above or on specific areas of the body, guiding the flow of Reiki energy. You may feel warmth, tingling, emotional release or a sense of drifting into deep stillness. Some people feel nothing at all.
Every experience is unique, and all responses are welcome.
After the session, we take a moment to reflect, ground and discuss any insights or sensations that arose. Most clients leave feeling lighter, clearer and renewed.
For general stress, relaxation, or nervous system support:
✨ 1 session can create noticeable calm
✨ 3–4 sessions close together often deepen regulation
For deeper or long-standing patterns (burnout, grief, chronic stress):
✨ A short series of 4–6 sessions is often helpful
Reiki works cumulatively — like gently clearing debris from a river over time rather than all at once.
